    Forget about DVD Maker and download ImgBurn (free) from
    http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download
    Once installed do the following:
    Open ImgBurn, in the Mode option select "Build", look for your video files and add them to the window. Select your output folder (in the Desktop will be easy to find) and make an ISO. This ISO is an image that will be burnt in your DVD and that can be played in almost any DVD player.
    Insert your blank DVD or CD in your CD/DVD-RW drive.
    Now switch Mode to Write, add the ISO file to the window and burn your DVD (click the icon in the left lower part of the interface).
    One more thing to consider, your video has to be in the DVD format (mpeg-2) also meaning VIDEO_TS folders. If it is an .avi file then your dvd player has to support that format.

    Assuming your OS is Windows XP or Vista, I recommend you use Windows Media Player to view the movie. Open up the folder labeled "VIDEO_TS", then right click on any file with a .IFO extension. Click on "Open With", and choose Windows Media Player. Make sure to click on "Always use selected program to open this kind of file". Click on "Ok". Now, each time you click on a .IFO file, the movie will be played with Windows Media Player, without you having to burn it to DVD.
    To watch the movie/video on an iPod or in that format, a conversion would be required before uploading it to your device. There are several (some free) video converters available via the Internet.
