Questions about Directx 8 for Windows 2000:

  1. I opened, SIMS 2 DOUBLE DELUXE, Why do I receive this error: "Failed to find any DirectX 9. 2008-09-10 16:16:06

    The error is telling you your graphics card does not support the directX requirements of the expansion packs you have installed. You are looking at the requirements for the base game only. If you have Double Deluxe then you need to look at the requirements for Celebration Stuff. To play Celebration Stuff your card must have 32 MB or more memory and one of these T&L capable chipsets:

    ATI Radeon 8500 or greater;
    Nvidia GeForce2 GTS or greater.
    For Stuff Packs the requirements are very precise and as you can see few graphics cards are supported.

    The Radeon 7500 unfortunately is not supported. Nor is it supported for Nightlife.

  1. I want to download team fortress 2 using steam, will it run well? 2009-06-15 15:26:20

    Your system should be able to run it, your video card might mean that you need to turn it down a bit, but it'll run.

    Wireless adapaters are different; the software is supposed to be installed before the hardware, but there's a way to do this:

    You seem like you somewhat know what's going on, so I'm not going to dumb everything down. If you have a question about a step, Google it.

    Open device manager
    Locate the network adapter. It will be the one not working
    Right click it and enter properties
    Go to the driver tab and click "Update"
    Don't let it auto search, instead browse your computer
    Click the "Let me choose" option, and if you installed the software, your driver should be on that list. You may have to uncheck the "only show compatible software" box, because the OS doesn't know if it's compatible yet.
