    try iwconfig for a linuX based distro ur wireless is most likely wlan0
    iwlist wlan0 scan
    will show if ur connected to the access point
    u may need to check that ndiswrapper is indeed installed and config'd for ur drivers
    try to modprobe it if not u'll need to install that and acquire the drivers for ur card untar them and have ndiswrapper read the *.inf file for the driver if built for windows,, if not just get the driver and make it on ur system,
    u;ll need the wireless-tools package u can either apt-get or yum install..
    also check the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts for ur wireless interface u can try to set DHCP from there and set it to load on boot u can try hard coding the MAC address. use the ifup script to bring the interface up and try pinging out,, u should disable the ethernet while testing

    Hi, Linspire is nice from what I have heard a friend tell me about. Well freespire is their free version so I don't think their community maintains it as well as maybe the ubuntu, mint, opensuse and mandriva community does. Anyway I have heard a lot of good things about Mandriva One 2008 and Power pack as well.

    They r some of the best distros out there.
