Do you have any other Vista computer that you can use to burn an emergency system repair disc? If you do then run RECDISC on that computer to create one. It won't let you restore the computer in full but will let you access the system recovery console to fix missing system files.

You may also burn a bootable CD like this so you can boot in Mini Windows XP:

When you load Mini Windows XP, you can browse the internet, access your email and ask a friend or relative to email you a copy of the missing NTKRNLPA.EXE file then save it to your C:\Windows\System32 folder. If you have a 64-bit Vista then there's another copy of it that is stored in the C:\Windows\Syswow64 folder.

One place I'd try is Microsoft's support section on www.microsoft.com. Check in the Knowledge Base. There seem to be some very old references to ntkrnlpa.exe (early Windows XP), but there may also be something more recent.

    Good luck.

ntkrnlpa.exe is a core component of windows so unless you downloaded a copy from the internet or the file is corrupt you should be fine.
