    you have to forward the port on your router then download the tools from steam for the game.it should be called half-life dedicated server tool or something in that range you will be able to see it.after run the tool and follow the program it shou7ld launch the game if not then launch it yourself.
    and if you are using a cracked version of the game try hamachi or tunngle then just start a lan game and hae your buddies join.
    im doing all the instructios off the top of my head so bear with my instructions considering im on another computer which dont have steam or any of my gaming info
