Free Bootleg Music Downloads

Questions about Bootleg Music:

  1. Why is downloading music or a movie for free considered stealing by some? 2011-09-12 04:22:57

Taping music onto cassettes was also stealing. It wasn't a big deal because the quality deteriorated with each copying.

Why should you gain something without paying for it when someone else came up with the intellectual property?

There are plenty of musicians and artists who have released their works into the public domain. These people are generally amateurs, it's true, but there's plenty of free music and art. But you don't want that. You want name brand music and art. Guess what? It takes a lot of time and money and talent to produce that music, or that art, or that novel. And THAT'S what you're paying for, not the copy of whatever it is.

Authors get PAID for the books that libraries buy. And many, many people will decide to buy a copy of a book because they read it in a library. Musicians, on the other hand, don't get paid for pirated music, and people who pirate music will not buy regular CDs, but instead will go on to pirate more music. With a library book (or other media), the patron has to return it in a couple of weeks. People keep pirated music forever.

I challenge you to create a work, a professional quality work, and then allow it to be copied without a fee. I write professionally, and I can tell you, there's nothing quite like seeing someone else reprinting my work without payment. I paid a lot of money to research my articles, and they are frequently reprinted, sometimes under someone else's byline!

  1. Programs 2 remove vocals and or background music? 2006-12-26 12:50:27

Have you tried Audacity? It's free, and the link below provides steps for splitting the vocal and music tracks out. Alot of it will depend on the source file - I have had mixed results with .mp3's.
