Yeah, ^ those guys ^ are both right, but you shouldn't have to jump through hoops to get your antivirus to update *automatically*.
Free Avira was failing auto-updates before the above answerer started with them, and it still is :-(

Nothing wrong with Avira's AntiVir.... and it auto updates a minimum of once a day........ As to Limewire or any other P2P (peer to peer) file sharing site, you always are in danger of getting zapped by a bad guy.... virus and trojan makers prefer to use those sites to hide their programs within music files because they know the sites are heavily visited and want to infect as many systems as possible..... Kaspersky is good, but actually rates a little lower than Avira AntiVir...
You first need to turn off your System Restore, as the virus/trojan is usually hidden in there knowing that AV programs don't check Sys Restore..... that will wipe out all your restore points, including the infected one...... Reboot into Safe Mode and then run your AV program from Safe Mode to max your chances of cleaning the bad guy........... from Safe Mode you could also do an online AV and Malware scan from Trend Micro called Housecall.... at http://www.housecall.trendmicro.com/ to be sure your AV program got everything......
Now turn on System Restore and reboot your computer.... that gives you a new, fresh, clean Restore point and gets you back to happy computer land...
