Don't fear the zip file ;-) It's your copy of WinZip that is the problem, not the files you are downloading. I don't think WinZip is a free program - just a free trial or partial program.
There are all kinds of unzipping programs out there. I've been using ExtractNow and love it. Here is a link to a safe download from CNet.

The program is free. It is easy to install. It is safe and easy to use. Once it is installed, you just launch it, drag your zipped folders into it and click Extract. What is really cool about it is that you can extract multiple files at once. That is a huge bonus, especially when downloading all those fun free fonts.
Once you get yourself unzipping, I'd recommend www.dafont.com. There are tons of font websites out there, but dafont has no advertising, you don't have to click past all kinds of confusing things, you can load your own sample text to look at and the website runs faster than any other font website I've used.

Right click on the file and select unzip or extract. You can download winrar or 7ZIP which are better utilities.
No more corrupt files.
