You need to download the Klite Codec Pack (google) for encoders. Also, is the Ed Eddn Eddy, a game or what? What extensions?
I would leave nero 7 and go for nero 6 as many people have problems with 7. The cd labeler in nero is hard work, so i would recommend easy cd/dvd label creator.
Lightscribe only prints in black & white i think.
Lots of programs to convert, avi to mpeg, most use winavi.
If you are downloading movies, then i would stick to kvcd as these can be burned to cdr and take about 3 mins to burn, you would need alcohol 120 or daemon or nero to burn.
