    Make sure you downloaded the right shareaza. There is a spyware one at shareaza.com and the original one at sourceforge. If you did download the real one then try changing the network you are useing (most likely gnutella2) to another one (gnutella1 preferably).

    Edit:
    To change the network make sure that gnutella 2 ntwork has connected then go into network in the upper right hand corner and go to choose network, then select the network you want to choose. After your chosen network connects you can unselect the gnutella 2 network (it will give you a message, just choose yes).

    If none of the tips there help you, try one of those uninstall programs. They can remove software even if the add/remove won't work.
