if an entire group of people can be possessed with the ideas of Satan, than that begs the question; "what makes you so sure that you're religion isn't the one which was inspired by such satanic possession?
you have to realize that just because you read something on the internet or book, or see something on tv, or in a movie, doesn't make it true. one of the ways science has set it self up is that in order to even have your idea publicized as actual science, you need to have data support it, and you need to have people in relevant fields agree with you're conclusions. because of this the opinion of a scientist is not vary authoritative, but if he can point to his publication in a scholarly journal, than it has some authority behind it, if he can point to people who have independently reached the same conclusions, even better. Time Magazine is NOT science, it may report on issues of science from time to time... but science it is not
String theory is a nick name for what ins science is called a hypothesis, much like calling an obese person a whale doesn't mean you are claiming that that person is of the whale species, calling something a theory doesn't mean it's a theory with regards to science. and currently it's an attempt to unify the physics of the vary small (sub atomic particles) and the vary big (celestial bodies) in a coherent way. now this explanation may vary well be wrong, and sense there is no evidence what so ever to support it, scientists will generally assume that it is wrong. and thats the main difference between how science works and how religion works. religion takes ignorance and masks it with an explanation, refusing to hear any alternatives, Science takes ignorance and studies it to find an explanation that it not a mask, but a plug.
