I have read most of the Tin Tin comics. In fact I have most of them excepting 2 or 3 which I could not get. Tin Tin is our all time favourite (For me and my daughter) and without any age restiction we can enjoy them fully.
I/my daughter have the following titles -
Tintin in America
The Black Island
King Ottokar's Sceptre
The Secret of the Unicorn
Red Rackham's Treasure
Prisoners of the Sun
Land of Black Gold
Destination Moon
Explorers on the Moon
The Calculus Affair
The Red Sea Sharks
The Blue Lotus
The Castafiore Emerald
Flight 714
Tintin and the Picaros
The Shooting Star
Tintin in Tibet
The Crab with the Golden Claws
The Seven Crystal Balls
Cigars of the Pharaoh
Every one of the Tin Tin Story is a masterpiece and it is very difficlt to say wheihc is the best and which one I liked most. Howver i like Seven Crystal Balls, Temple of the Sun, and Tintin in Tibet. followed by Land of Black Gold. The beauty of reading these comics is that you never get bored and everytime even after many years you will relish reading them. -

Tintin is old. Herge died in the eighties. I did a few color separations back then: we used to take separate sheets of clear acetate, trace over the areas we were coloring with each color, then turn the sheet over and paint in where we wanted with each color with opaque paint. By painting backwards or upside down, we made sure that what was photographed was relatively smooth and streak free. Since most of the original color separations were done between the twenties and the seventies, you can be sure some form or other of that technique was used.
EDIT: since you are studying it as an art project, consider this: Herge was au courant with the technology of his day. Being faithful really does mean being au courant. The current industry standard is Photoshop, so I advise you to use it and to learn about color separations using it.
