    The three different types (which it looks like you know) are elastic cartilage, hyaline cartilage and fibrocartilage.

    As for sharks and rays I could not find that. I think you are correct in assuming it is Elastic cartilage especially if the name for them gives any hint..(Sharks, Rays and skates are Elasmobranchii)

    dont put another shark with it because they will fight to the death. red tailed sharks are very territorial and may torment community fish so they do better with larger fish like cichlids. so if you dont have a very big tank then you could try a semi-aggressive tank with semi-aggressive community fish.
