   There are two methods available here. Using proprietory drivers or open source (the latter being my preference)
   
   Method One (Open Source)
   
   Open a Terminal and submit the following commands (copy and paste)
   
   sudo apt-get remove --purge nvidia*
   
   sudo apt-get install libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental
   
   sudo apt-get install nouveau-firmware
   
   Close the Terminal and Reboot
   
   Method Two (Proprietory Driver)

   Should be included with the distro already. The Intel drivers are open source, so thay are packaged with the distro.
   
   You probably want to head over the the ubuntu forums with some more specific information to track down the video lag.
   
   open a terminal and type "lsmod"
   
   You should see a list a loaded modules. If one of them is "intel_i915_dri" or something similar your graphics chip is recognized and the proper drivers are loaded.
   
   If it's HD Flash videos that are lagging, I'm not surprised. This is a known issue with Flash. The only hardware that flash will accelerate video on are nvidia >=7 series cards.
