Questions about Windows 7 Icon:

  1. Is there a Windows 7 Icon Folder? 2011-05-12 13:28:09

    %SystemRoot%\system32\Shell32.dll

They are saved in a dll file as you can see above. Can't just drag them into a folder easily.

  1. How to restore icon of 'Downloads' folder in Windows 7? 2010-05-09 23:27:20

I spent some time changing all my folders to look like Vista. The Windows 7 folders were to plain and my user folder was kinda childish looking. A manila folder with a playskool male figure in it. So I think I can help. First if I remember correctly the original download folder was manila with an arrow pointing down. So go into computer. Open the hard drive, open the user folder, open your user folder. Right click on the download folder, left click properties. Click the customize tab. Click the change icon box at the bottom and find the icon you want. Select it. Click OK on that window, and apply and OK on the property screen window. Done. Now if for some reason you can not find the original Windows 7 download folder Icon in that window of icons here is what I would do. Go to this link and download the Windows 7 Folder Package.

Unzip it and put it where ever you would want to keep it permanently. Document folder maybe. Anyway now do what I wrote above but instead of finding and selecting the icon in the that box, click browse. In the window that opens up find the icon folder you stashed, by using the navigational tree in the pane on the left. Just keep on selecting and open folders till you find the icon. Select it and click open. then just keep clicking on apply and/or ok in the windows that are still open. I know it sounds confusing but it is easier than it sounds. There is another way by using what they call desktop int. files. These things give instructions to folders so they look and behave a certain way. I have tried this and they do not always work so I now always use the ways I laid out above. Add a comment if you need help. Will be more than happy to try. Hope this helps. Good Luck.
