Questions about Wise Installation Wizard:

  1. How do I delete the Wise Installation Wizard? 2009-07-08 14:57:54

Wise installation Wizard is not a program on your hard drive. You see, when you (un)install software, you're running a program called Wise Installation Wizard that knows what to do to install/uninstall the software you want.

To explain it another way, Wise Installation Wizard is the program that installs other software. It's not installed on your C drive, it is part of your software and deletes your software when asked. It deletes itself in the process of uninstalling your software, and cannot be removed separately because that would be like removing your brain from your body. It just doesn't work.

It's a packager, for the lack of a better term, that some developers use to package their applications so people can run them. Wise has been around for some time and I really doubt they are adding viruses or spyware in their little packaging program. It is possible that a file inside the package is infected.

Just like you put stuff in a box and ship it, wise installer is like the box you use as a container to hold different files that the developers are trying to distribute.

  1. I can't install Norton on my laptop. 2011-12-05 05:36:58

You don't mention what laptop you have.

I don't recommend that you put Norton on anything but a newer laptop. Norton is a resource hog. Requires a fast processor and plenty of ram.
If you can't install it then I suspect that your system is not fast enough to handle it.

As the 1st poster suggested, go with Microsoft Essentials.
I also suggest that you download and install the free Superantispyware and the free Malwarebytes.
These will HELP toward protecting you. If you click on the wrong thing, nothing will protect you.
A client got an email supposedly from 'US Postal Service" which said she had to download this form and print it out. I spent a good 12 or more hours trying to fix the problem to no avail. Ended up having to wipe the drive clean and reinstall the operating system, install all of her programs and then her files.
